On 9 January 2024 we celebrate 20 years of UpStage!

UpStage has playfully persisted for two decades of cyberformance adventures. Since its launch on 9 January 2004, UpStage has provided an accessible, artist-led online venue for collaboration, creation and conversations. Hundreds of artists, students, researchers and audience members around the world have explored the possibilities of live online performance through this unique platform.

To celebrate this incredible milestone, we are of course having a party – make that two parties, to make it easy for people in different time zones to attend. Since it’s the 20th birthday we’ll celebrate at 20:00 – first at 20:00 on 9th January in Aotearoa New Zealand, and then again at 20:00 on 9th January in central Europe.
