Last night we held a meeting to discuss ideas for celebrating the 10th birthday of UpStage, on 9 January 2014 and throughout the year.
Ideas included:
- an event on 9th January 2014, that could include a kind of seminar to discuss where to next for UpStage, as well as performances and a party
- a revamp of this web site (much needed!)
- an online exhibition, created as a dedicated part of the web site and made available to organisations e.g. festival node hosts for exhibiting in galleries & museums
- some kind of publication – perhaps an exhibition catalogue
- stories from UpStagers to be part of the exhibition & publication: in any format, e.g. a written text or a recording made in UpStage or something else
- a developer competition
- release of UpStage v3 – incorporating audio visual streaming & other new features, as well as upgrading to Actionscript3, HTML5 compatible, and general cleaning of the code
- maybe a year long party!
- a medal!
We have quite a bit of work ahead of us to organise all this! Helen and Vicki are working immediately on an application to Creative New Zealand, and our submission to Ars Electronica (you can nominate UpStage here if you haven’t already); we will look into a donations campaign and other funding options.
