make-shiftThe next performance of make-shift takes place on Tuesday 20th September at 7.30pm UK time, 9.30pm Turkey time, and online (find your local time here). Helen will be performing from an apartment in Istanbul, and Paula from a house in Exeter.

To join the performance online, go to https://www.make-shift.net and click on the link in the top right-hand corner that says “LIVE LINK HERE”. You will arrive first at some information about the performance and how the interface should look and some tips for optimal viewing, and from this screen it is just one more click and the interface will load.

“When I was growing up and something important got sucked up the hoover, my mum could be persuaded to get a piece of newspaper, unfold it on the floor and empty the cloth bag to try and find the missing thing. I don’t do that. Barbie shoes, fuzzy felt animals, bits of lego that are really important parts of a helicopter, multi-coloured beads from broken bracelets. I don’t care. Up into the hoover it goes and away with it. To somewhere else. Outside my home. To where I can’t see it anymore.”

make-shift uses UpStage in conjunction with audio-visual streaming in a purpose-built interface that allows online audiences to connect with audiences in two geographically distant domestic houses.
