Ben Unterman has been invited to do a brief introduction to some of the more complex avatars created for UpStage by the Virtual Theatre group. This will take the form of an open tour of avatars created for three different shows.
The tour will begin on the MerzNet stage (https://upstage.org.nz:8084/stages/merznet) at 11:00am on Saturday, June 25 (in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) – find your local time here. From there, we will go to see Lines (https://upstage.org.nz:8084/stages/linetest) and Murder 2.0 (https://upstage.org.nz:8084/stages/murder2), so if you don’t find us at the original stop, then that’s where we will be. Additional destinations may be added to the tour.
The discussion is likely to get technical very quickly, so be prepared for that as well. Having Flash running may also be an advantage so that we can look at the code in a little more detail. Because of this, Ben will use Skype for voice chat; please email info@upstage.org.nz if you would like to connect to Ben on Skype for this session.
Summary: Flash structures for UpStage

Meet at: https://upstage.org.nz:8084/stages/merznet
we have just finished the session & it was extremely interesting; ben demonstrated & explained a range of media utlising flash & actionscript within UpStage to provide animation & interactivity, with increasing complexity. the good news is, he’s going to write tutorials about it all so that anyone who is interested in experimenting along these lines can benefit from the work put in by him & his team.
Here is the log from the session.
