101010 Publicity Pack

More than 50 artists from around the world will collaborate online, in real time, to present 18 cyberformances in the 101010 UpStage Festival, 10-11 October 2010.

The 101010 Publicity Pack is now available for to download.

It contains:

media release with general festival information and highlights
list of the 18 selected performances and artists
list of the 10 RL access nodes and information about the nodes
background to UpStage
links to showreels and images

The schedule of performances will be released towards the end of September, once we have confirmed times with the performers.

You are very welcome to distribute this information to your networks and any interested people.

We look forward to sharing another exciting cyberformance extravaganza with you!

Call for participation to SPRINKLER FOUNTAIN

Hi!

We* are seeking participation to our cyberformance “SPRINKLER FOUNTAIN”, scheduled twice in the 101010 UpStage Festival.

Please send your stories, sound, music, photos, videos ABOUT WATER that you are happy for us to use, and come to the performance to see/hear how they are used and to interact with us.

Send your material as soon as possible (deadline: September 24) to suzonfuks@gmail.com. If you need more info, don’t hesitate in contacting us by using the same e-address.

The Sprinkler Fountain is a springboard to the VIRTUAL FOUNTAINS project, which will offer an online creative platform (THE WATERWHEEL – ready early next year) for people interested by WATER at all levels.

Die neuseeländische Medienkünstlerin Helen Varley Jamieson arbeitet bewusst mit low-tech Tools – partizipatorisch, ironisch, imaginativ und subversiv.

Unter Verwendung grafischer Kulissen, Avatars und Requisiten, Text-to-Speech, selbst produzierten MP3 Audiofiles, Live Webcam Streams und Live-Zeichnen wird eine gemeinsame Performance vor Ort und im Netz erarbeitet.

Jamieson prägte 2000 den Begriff „cyberformance“ für ihre Liveperformances in grafischen chat rooms, wo unter Verwendung der web-basierten Plattform UpStage gemeinsame Performances räumlich entfernter TeilnehmerInnen stattfinden können. An den Performances kann sich das Publikum unkompliziert durch Anklicken eines Links im Webbrowser online beteiligen und mittels Text to Speech interagieren. Die Performances entstehen in real time mit verschiedenen DarstellerInnen – vor Ort und im Netz.

Im Workshop werden die Grundlagen zu einer Performance erarbeitet, die als Beitrag zum Festival upStage 101010 am 10.10.2010 im „schaumbad“ aufgeführt wird. Die dabei entstehenden „realen“ Artefakte (Zeichnungen, Fotografien, Videoclips, Texte, Sounds, …) fließen als Installation in die Ausstellung des steirischen:altweibersommer ein.

Angesprochen werden KünstlerInnen aus den Bereichen Theater, bildende Kunst, Medienkunst, sowie digitale GeschichtenerzählerInnen, StudentInnen und alle, die an der sozialen und kulturellen Nutzung des Internets interessiert sind.
